Daniel Kaniess (American, 1955-2012). Untitled figurative watercolor from the portfolio "Son, what Goes on at Those Punk Parties?" 1985. Signed along the lower right. The Punk Party figurative watercolor series captures the live band basement parties that were part of the Twin Cities music scene during the 1980s. The Punk Party series was first exhibited at Slam Dance, in Minneapolis in 2019. Kaniess was a fixture of the Twin Cities music scene as a founding member of the band 2i. He worked as a musician and artist throughout his life, forming the noise improvisational group BLACKi.
Unframed; height: 29 in x width: 20 in. Framed; height: 32 1/4 in x width: 24 1/4 in.

Condition

No visible tears, creases, or losses. The paper is lightly toned. There is light undulation to the sheet. The sheet is floating on the frame; all four margins are visible. The surface appears to be stable, and the color is bold and bright. Framed under plexiglass; not inspected out of frame. The verso could not be inspected. Very light wear to the frame.
