Dakota Hoska (Oglala Lakhota, 20th/21st c). Oil on panel painting titled "The Green Hat" depicting a portrait of a woman with a bright green bucket hat and reflective sunglasses, 2015. Signed and dated along the lower right. Hoska, who studied at the University of Minnesota and the University of St. Thomas, worked in the curatorial departments at the Minneapolis Institute of Art prior to joining the Denver Art Museum as an assistant curator of Native arts.

Provenance: from the collection of an important Minnesota institution.

Hight: 30 in x width: 23 3/4 in.

Condition

The item is in good condition with no visible cracks or losses. The surface is stable, and the color is bold and bright. Throughout the recto, there are a few scattered paint accretions that are original. Along the extreme edges, there is paint loss. No visible sign of restoration under UV light. Clean verso.
