Japanese lacquerware natsume tea caddy, black and gold over a red ground. Edo period, ca. 18th to 19th century. The sides decorated with willow trees.

Height: 3 in x diameter: 2 3/4 in.
There are two hairline cracks along two sides of the lid. Several very light hairline cracks extending downwards from the upper rim along the interior of the box. One minute chip to the footrim. Light wear throughout. Some accretions and dust/debris gathered along the interior.
