Xavier Tavera (born in Ciudad de Mexico, b. 1971). Limited edition poster from a series of 100 from the 2006 Grupo Soap del Corazon exhibition "Artsourcing: An International Consortium of Outsourcing Artists" at the Soap Factory. Xavier Tavera is one of the founders (along with Dougie Padilla) of the long-standing art collective Grupo Soap del Corazon (art that cleans the heart). Tavera is also an educator, curator, and activist, using his artistic practice to illuminate the soulful humanity of the Mexican diaspora through photography. The M has an upcoming exhibition project with Tavera and Grupo Soap planned for 2024. Tavera has shown his work extensively in the Twin Cities, nationally and internationally including Germany, Scotland, Mexico, Chile, Uruguay and China. His work is part of the collections of the Minneapolis Institute of Art, Plaines Art Museum, Minnesota Museum of American Art, Minnesota History Center, Ramsey County Historical Society and the Weisman Art Museum. He is a recipient of the McKnight fellowship, Jerome Travel award, State Arts Board, and Bronica scholarship. Height: 21 1/2 in x width: 16 1/2 in.
