Egyptian ceramic seated lion, retaining some of the original painting. With a sticker from Mathias Komor affixed along the underside of the lion. Komor was one of the first New York art and antiquity dealers to handle ancient and primitive art. The sticker reads "Mathias Komor Works of Art New York" and is numbered 0713. With a small wooden plinth.
Lion; height: 1 1/2 in x width: 2 3/4 in x depth: 1 in. Base; height: 1 in x width: 3 1/4 in x depth: 1 1/2 in.
Condition
Some of the original painting is still visible, particularly the red along the mane of the lion. There is a large loss along the front of the lion; the front paws are missing. There is an additional loss along the back of the lion. There are a few minute chips along the edge of the base of the lion. Light wear to the wooden base. Minor loss to the sticker affixed underneath the lion.
