Kaneshige Toyo (Japanese, 1898-1967). Square formed Bizen ware ceramic vase or mizusashi, a fresh water pot used in tea ceremonies, 1964. Incised signature and date along the underside. Toyo was deemed a living national treasure in 1956 for his contributions to Bizen style ceramics.
Height: 7 1/4 in x width: 7 in x depth: 7 in.

Condition

There is a small crack along the bottom of the interior that extends through to the exterior underside. General light wear throughout consistent with age and use. No major chips, losses, or apparent restorations.
