Group of four Kutani Japanese porcelain vessels including one large bowl or charger, a double-handled cup, a tall teapot, and a lidded box. The bowl, teapot, and box all inscribed along the underside. Each painted in iron-red with gilt decoration.
Height ranges from 2 in to 9 1/2 in; diameter ranges from 3 1/2 in to 14 1/2 in.
Overall there are no major chips or losses to the items. There is light wear throughout the items as expected from age and use. All items have loss to paint coloration; there is loss to the gilding throughout. There is wear to the footrim of the cup. The lidded box has a minute spot of adhesive residue along the top right exterior corner of the lid. There is a minute chip to the interior rim of the lid. There is wear to the underside of the lidded box. The teapot has tape and adhesive residue along the topside of the lid; there is minute piece of adhesive residue along the interior of the lid. The extreme edge of the rim of the lid has light wear. There are minute chips to the underside of the lid rim. There is light crazing throughout the lid. Along the upper portion of the teapot, towards the rim, there are several pieces of tape and adhesive residue. Along the lower portion of the teapot, there is a minute spot of adhesive residue. There is wear to the footrim of the teapot. The bowl has crazing and minute firing flaws throughout. There is a five inch long crack along the side of the bowl. There are two chips that have been restored along the exterior of the rim; one is 1/2 inch, and the other is 2 1/2 inches. There is adhesive residue along the exterior of the sides, beneath the tail of a fish. There is a piece of adhesive residue along the underside. There is wear to the footrim.
