Joseph Holdcroft (English, 19th c). Majolica teapot in the form of a young boy in traditional Chinese dress climbing an oversized melon or nut, ca. 1870. The boy's head forms the lid while a stalk forms the spout and handle.
Height: 5 1/2 in x width: 7 1/2 in x depth: 4 1/4 in.

The teapot is in fair condition. The head of the boy (the knop of the lid) is not attached to the lid. Crazing and wear throughout. There is a blue mark to the exterior of the lid. Dust collected to recessed areas as expected. There are areas with color fainted as shown in the listing. There is a minute chip to the spout. There is a sticker affixed along the underside. No sign of restoration under UV light. Please contact us for a detailed condition report. Please note that the lack of a condition statement does not imply perfect condition. Email with any condition questions.
