19th century Chinese Qing dynasty copper handwarmer or footwarmer. A round form with an intricately piercing lid and two handles. Decorated throughout with profuse geometric and foliate scroll work interspersed with lotus flowers.Height: 5 in x diameter: 7 in.
Condition
There are a few small dents throughout, mostly on the body of the piece, with the longest measuring around 3/4 of an inch in diameter. There is tarnishing throughout, consistent with age. Scratches throughout consistent with age. Much of the original black lacquer remains, though there are areas where it has worn away. There is evident polish in the recesses areas of the work. The handles move smoothly and do not stick. The lid sits well on the body and can be removed easily. Heavy wear on the interior, consistent with use.
