At once luminous and unrevealing, "Lake Seasons no. 26" recreates the human experience of looking into a body of water and wondering about all that happens, unseen, beneath the surface. Awe and gratitude bring Annie Hejny to shores around the Midwest where she respectfully collects sediment and water. Hejny layers the water and river sediment on canvas with acrylic paint and allows her brush to take motion that is inspired by the feeling of standing at the shore.
