Provenance: Distinguished Corporate Collection, Ohio.

Currier and Ives was founded by Nathaniel Currier (American, 1813-1888) in 1835 as "the Grand Central Depot for Cheap and Popular Prints," but changed its name with the addition of James Merritt Ives (American, 1824-1895) in 1857. The company created over 7000 popular lithographs depicting American life until 1907.

(Woodcock) Image; height: 8 in x width: 12 5/8 in. Margins; top: 5/8 in x bottom: 1 1/8 in x left: 5/8 in x right: 5/8 in. Sheet; height: 9 3/4 in x width: 13 3/4 in. (Partridge) Image; height: 7 7/8 in x width: 12 1/2 in. Margins; top: 1 1/2 in x bottom: 2 in x left: 1 1/2 in x right: 1 1/2 in. Sheet; height: 11 1/2 in x width: 15 1/2 in.

Condition

(Partridge Shooting) The sheet is toned. There is wear, chips/frits throughout the left and right edges. There is a large tear along the upper right corner (the piece is included but not attached). Tideline along the upper half extending down towards the lower right corner (most visible along the verso, but also visible along the recto). Some tears along the upper left corner. Soiling along the verso. There are two pieces of tape affixed to the verso along the upper right corner. There is another piece of tape affixed to the left center edge as well as the lower right corner. Pencil inscription "EGG" along the lower left.
(Woodcock Shooting) The sheet is toned. Some wear along the edges and some light soiling throughout. There is an area of skimming along the center left edge. It appears there is a tear that has been repaired along the upper right corner. Another area of light skimming along the lower right edge; there is a small tear just below this area. There is a small loss along the upper left corner. Pinhole along the lower left edge. Along the verso there are four pieces of tape affixed in the previously mentioned areas of skimming/restoration. Soiling and some staining to the verso. The work is not framed.

Revere Auctions accepts wire transfers, checks (personal or business check in US dollars certified by a US bank, a cashier’s/banker’s check drawn on a US bank or US money order), cash (US currency not to exceed $10,000 in a single or multiple related payments). Visa, Discover, American Express or MasterCard may be used and are subject to a 3.0% convenience fee and are limited to purchases of $5,000.00 (total). Credit Card payments for jewelry and gold are NOT accepted. The purchaser’s obligation to pay immediately the full purchase price is absolute and unconditional and is not subject to any defenses, setoffs or counterclaims of any kind whatsoever. Revere Auctions is not obligated to release a lot to the purchaser until title to the lot has passed. The purchaser agrees to pay Revere Auctions handling charge of $30 for any check dishonored by the drawee.

SHIPPING

Revere Auctions does NOT offer in-house shipping. As a convenience to the Buyer, Revere Auctions will make a referral for packing and shipping. This is at the request, expense, and risk of the Buyer, and Revere Auctions assumes no responsibility for the items or the timing of delivery. Insurance for in transit items is the responsibility of the buyer. The buyer must reach out to a shipping company to arrange shipping.
The buyer must fill out the Shipping Release Form in order for their items to be released. This is to ensure that the won item(s) are given to the proper shipping company and reach their final destination safely. This form can be found here.
