19th century Charlestown stoneware jug with an ovoid body, short bottleneck, and handle. Impressed marks along the side.
Height: 14 1/4 in x diameter: 10 in.
Wear throughout the piece; there are some areas with an uneven surface, most likely to be original to the piece. There is a 1/2 inch long loss to the rim; there is a 1/8 inch chip to the rim. There is a circular area- diameter 1 inch- that lost glazing and shows underlying stoneware, possibly original to the piece. Below the neck, there are two losses, each sizing 1 inch and 1/2 inch. Below the losses, there is a black accretion to the surface, smaller than 1/8 inch. Below the "Charlestown" marker, there is a grey accretion that measures 3/4 inch. To the right of the grey accretion, there is an area that lost glazing and shows the underlying stoneware. Below it, there is a network of minute white accretions. Right below it, there are two chips that are discolored dark. To the left of the chips, there is a 1/2 inch long dent to the surface. Towards the foot, there is a 1/2 inch dent. There is an 11 inches long crack that begins from the footrim and that is discolored dark. Below the crack, there is another line of discolored crack, approx. 4 inches long. By the foot rim, there is a network of minute white accretion. Wear to the footrim, consistent with its age and use. White accretion to its underside; there is a crack along the underside that measures 5 inches. The jug does not show a sign of restoration under UV light. Credit Card payments for jewelry and gold are NOT accepted. The purchaser’s obligation to pay immediately the full purchase price is absolute and unconditional and is not subject to any defenses, setoffs or counterclaims of any kind whatsoever. Revere Auctions is not obligated to release a lot to the purchaser until title to the lot has passed. The purchaser agrees to pay Revere Auctions handling charge of $30 for any check dishonored by the drawee.
