James and Ralph Clews (British, Cobridge) after an engraving by Samuel Maverick for Staffordshire. Set of "The Landing of General Lafayette" dark blue and white porcelain including two serving dishes, one serving platter, one bowl, one saucer, and one tea pot; ca. 1818-1836. Each piece depicts a scene of General Lafayette's landing at Castle Garden (present-day Battery Park), New York on August 16, 1824. Tray, plates, and saucer impressed with "Staffordshire Clews Warranted" mark along the underside. Teapot marked with incised "C" along the underside and "CC" along the underside of the lid.
