Robert Vickrey (American, 1926-2011). Egg yolk tempera on masonite portrait of Hubert Humphrey, the respected Minnesota Senator and Vice President. Signed along the lower left.
This painting depicts Humphrey at the zenith of his public recognition during his presidential run in 1968. This painting was commissioned by TIME Magazine, and would have been the magazine cover had Humphrey won the 1968 presidential election. Vickrey provided 77 cover illustration portraits for TIME Magazine during his career.
