Krupp, Germany. Bisected metal Krupp's no. 1 railroad train locomotive wheel. The Krupp company was well known for Alfred Krupp's invention of seamless railroad wheels, which became mainstream in American railroads in the late 19th c. The present lot was most likely a salesman's sample sent to James J. Hill.
