Korean lacquered wood chest, or traditional woman's combs and incidental box, ca. 1900. The chest is constructed of paulownia wood with brass fittings that are incised with foliate motifs. With lock in the form of a fish symbolizing abundance and good luck. From South Kyongsang Province.

Height: 10 in x width: 11 3/4 in x depth: 8 3/4 in.
All moving parts move smoothly and open and close well. Some tarnishing to the metal elements. No major splits to the wood. Some wear including small dents, light scratches, and other signs of use. Lock not tested.
