Ito Takashi (Japanese, 1894-1982). Woodblock print on paper titled "View of Mt. Fuji from Lake Yamanaka" depicting a snowy forest, 1952. The bare trees in the foreground allow for Mt. Fuji to be glimpsed in the distance. With a 6mm black Watanabe publishing company seal along the lower left corner.

Ito Takashi was a renowned artist known for his landscape prints, heavily influenced by traditional Japanese nihonga painting. Trained at the Tokyo School of Fine Arts under Kiyokata Kaburagi, Takashi became one of the prominent artists working for publisher Wantanabe Shozaburo, producing around 50 landscape prints characterized by a style reminiscent of German 19th-century romanticism. His prints, often featuring solitary figures, evoke a sense of eerie sentimentality, distinguished by their brushstroke-like appearance and intricate color gradations, showcasing Takashi's exceptional skill and artistry.

Height: 10 1/2 in x width: 15 in.
