Katsushika Hokusai (Japanese, 1760-1849). Ukiyo-e woodblock print titled "Fine Wind, Clear Morning (Red Fuji)" depicting Mt. Fuji rising in the distance. From the series "Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji," 1832.
Utagawa Hiroshige (1797-1858). Ukiyo-e woodblock print titled "Evening Snow at Kanbara," depicting a snowy landscape. From the series "The Fifty-three Stations of the Tokaido Road," ca. 1833-34.
Kitagawa Utamaro (Japanese, b. circa 1753-1806). Woodblock print titled "Portrait of Takashima O-Hisa" depicting a woman in fine silks holding a fan, ca. 1792-93.
Height ranges from 10 1/4 in to 16 in; width ranges from 11 in to 15 3/4 in. Colors are bold and bright. The paper backing and print sheet is toned for all three prints. There is slight undulation to the sheets of all three prints. There is light wear along the deckled edges of the print displaying a figure. There is a horizontal crease along the upper edge of the print. Along the paper backing there is discoloration, uneven edges, a crease along the lower-right corner, a crease along the upper right-corner, and a tear along the upper middle edge. There is also a loss to the upper-left corner of the backing. The print is unframed. Regarding the print of the landscape scene, the sheet is lightly toned; there is some uneven toning along the right edge. There is light wear along the deckled edges. The edges are slightly uneven. There is a vertical crease along the right edge and lower edge of the print. Clear tape has been applied to the right and lower edges. The print is unframed. Regarding the print of the mountain there is light wear along the deckled edges. The edges are slightly uneven. There is light creasing along the left and right edges. There is discoloration, creasing, uneven edges, and tearing to the backing of the print. The print is unframed.
