A fine and rare Vietnamese Anamese (Annamese) Yuhuchun vase likely made during the Le dynasty (1428-1789). With a rounded tapering body and fluted neck. Blue and white decoration depicting birds. Glaze reduction and weathering strongly suggests a shipwreck origin. Hoi An being one such wreck.
Height: 12 1/4 in x diameter: 6 in.
There are no chips, cracks, losses, or repairs. Heavy crazing throughout; visible in the lot listing. There are areas of lost glaze throughout which appear to be original to firing. Some wear and rubbing along the lower sides near the footrim. Wear to the footrim. Mineral deposits in the crazing. Wear throughout consistent with age and origin.
