Ming-style Chinese rosewood Hongmu low-back armchair. A "Southern official's hat armchair" with a straight back-rail above an S-curved splat. The splat with a carved medallion in low relief. The arms with a gentle S-curve and with tapering brackets. Cylindrical legs joined by a plain apron, stretchers, and a footrest.

The chair is structurally sound and stable. There is large repair to the underside of the seat. There are several splits to the wood along the top of the seat. There are small water spots/stains throughout. There is a small chip along the front right corner of the seat. There are discolorations to the backsplat. There is general wear throughout consistent with age and use.
