Archaic Chinese carved jade bi decorated with relief carving depicting animals. Shows signs of a window being polish into the piece. The reverse shows four archaic script characters. Characteristics of this piece strongly support an early archaic date.
Provenance: Private Minneapolis Collection - collected in China prior to 1985.
Diameter: 2 in x depth: 1/8 in. Weight: 13.44 grams.
Some roughness along the extreme edges of the piece. Some of the finer details have been smoothed down due to age and use. Calcification throughout. Along the bod of the creature to the right of the turtle there is a polished "window." No cracks or major losses.
