Group of four 19th century Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints including:
Utagawa Kunisada "Utagawa Toyokuni III" (Japanese, 1786-1865). Print titled "Mitsuuji at Suma (Suma no Mitsuuji)" from the series "Matches for Thirty-Six Selected Poems," 1856. Depicting a figure seated on a balcony overlooking a harbor.
Utagawa Kunisada "Utagawa Toyokuni III" (Japanese, 1786-1865). Print from the series "Tokaido meisho no uchi (Famous Views of the Tokaido)," ca. 1863. Depicting a marketplace with a distant mountain.
Utagawa Kunisada II (Japanese, 1823-1880). Print titled "The Kamo Shrine in Kyoto (Kyo Kamo)" from the series "Tokaido meisho no uchi (Famous Views of the Tokaido)," ca. 1863. Depicting a procession with a blooming cherry blossom tree.
Utagawa Yoshiiku "Ochiai Yoshiiku" (Japanese, 1833-1904). Print titled "Kyoto meisho no uchi, Shimabara (Famous Places in Kyoto: Shimabara)," from the series "Tokaido meisho no uchi (Famous Views of the Tokaido)," ca. 1863. Depicting two female figures, one dreaming of a procession.
Height ranges from 13 7/8 in to 14 3/8 in; width ranges from 9 3/8 in to 9 7/8 in.
The colors are bold and bright. The sheets are toned and have been cut down. Some areas of wear along the edges including fritting and handling marks. A few areas of pinholes along the margins. One print with two small pieces of framing tape affixed to the verso. The works are not framed.
