Album of Japanese Edo period Tosa School portrait paintings in color and gold on silk of the 24 Generals of Shingen Takeda (1521-1573), a powerful daimyo of the Sengoku period. Takeda was known for his military prowess, and during the Edo period, his 24 generals became a popular subject for art and theatre, especially ukiyo-e and bunraku.
