Yrjo Edelmann (Swedish, 1941-2016). Oil on canvas painting depicting a trompe l'oeil composition of folded paper in gray, black, pink, and green, 1989. Pencil signed and dated along the lower right corner. Similar to his hyper realistic paintings of clumsily wrapped packages. On an irregular canvas meant to mimic the sharp folds of parchment that the painting is depicting.

The item is in generally good condition with no visible tears or creases, or major losses. The surface is stable, and the color is bold and bright. Along the canvas edges, there is light wear and minute paint losses. Along the upper edges, there are stretcher bar marks; along the marks, there are several scattered areas of minute paint loss; see listing image. When inspected under UV light there are a few scattered areas of a network of minute dots that are florescent; however, it does not appear to be a restoration. In the upper right quadrant, there is an approximately quarter-inch area of paint loss. In the lower right quadrant, there is a minute dent. In the lower left quadrant, there is an area with scratches. The verso is clean. The upper left quadrant on the side of the canvas has an approximately 3-inch long line grey mark.
