Terence David La Noue (American, b. 1941). Mixed media on wood artwork titled "Kyoto Falls," depicting an abstract scene inspired by the famous waterfalls in Kyoto, Japan, 1992-1997. Signed, titled, and dated along the verso. Often taking years to complete, his works are held in numerous collections including the Center for Contemporary Art in Kitakyushu, Japan, the Power Institute of Fine Arts in Sydney, Australia, the Musee d'Art et Archeologie in Paris, France, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), the Whitney Musem of American Art, and the Corcoran Gallery of Art.
Unframed; height: 45 in x width: 37 in. Framed; height: 51 in x width: 42 1/4 in.

Condition

The artwork itself is in excellent condition with no losses, breaks, or restorations. The colors are bold and bright and the artwork is stable. Due to the nature of the paint layer it is difficult to determine if there is any craquelure. Due to the nature of the framing the verso was not inspected. The frame has been exposed to water and there is water damage along the lower margin, though it does not seem to affect the artwork. It is likely that there is moisture exposure along the wooden backing to which the artwork is affixed.
