Stephen Lyman (American, 1957-1996). Watercolor on paper depicting two eagles soaring over a nest. Signed and dated 1977 along the lower right.

Stephen Lyman was a wildlife artist from Idaho who spent much of his childhood hiking through the Pacific Northwest. His work is inspired by naturalist John Muir who said "Climb the mountains, and get their good tidings." Following this notion, Lyman set out to capture the most elusive moments of nature. His work has been shown at the "Birds in Art" show at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, and he received "Artist of the Year" at the 1991 Pacific Rim Wildlife Art Show as well as "Encore Artist" at the 1995 event.

Provenance: Distinguished corporate collection, Minnesota.
