Seymour Millais Stone (Polish/American, 1877-1957). Oil on canvas painting titled "Dame der Gesellschaft (Society Lady)" depicting a portrait of a seated woman in a sumptuous white gown perched delicately on an ornate giltwood chair, 1908. Signed and dated along the lower right.

Horst Rechelbacher, the founder of Aveda and Intelligent Nutrients, was a pioneer in the field of safe and eco-friendly cosmetics. The same curiosity that led him to explore ways to improve the beauty industry led him to travel the world, collecting rare and beautiful objects as he went.

Sight; height: 72 in x width: 50 in. Framed; height: 74 1/2 in x width: 52 in.

Condition

There are no major rips or losses and the surface is stable. The artwork has been relined. There are numerous areas of restoration and inpainting along the surface of the work throughout, particularly along the upper third of the painting. These are visible under UV light. Minute losses to the extreme edges of the work. Dirt and dust collected along the surface of the work. Wear to the frame.
