Robert Rauschenberg (1925-2008). Color exhibition poster titled, "Centennial Certificate: Metropolitan Museum of Art," 1970. Features Rauschenberg's 1969 work under the same name commissioned by the Met to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the museum. Marked "Robert Rauschenberg. Centennial Certificate. Metropolitan Museum of Art." along the lower center and "Copyright 1970. Telamon Editions Limited. West Islip, New York." along the lower right.

Rauschenberg's original 1969 "Centennial Certificate" lithograph print was created based on a collage of a number of works from the Metropolitan Museum of Art's permanent collection. During his research for this commissioned project, he discovered the museum's original mission and goals were written on graph paper document dated to 1870. Based off this idea, the artist produced an updated certificate which was then signed by several museum officials, including the director, Thomas Hoving.
