Ras Aykem Ramsey (Barbadian, 20th/21st c). Oil on canvas painting depicting the American boxer John Arthur "Jack" Johnson (American, 1878-1946). Akyem is closely associated with the Rastafarianism movement and is often compared to Jean-Michel Basquiat.
Sight; height: 31 1/4 in x width: 31 in. Framed; height: 35 in x width: 34 3/4 in.
The painting is in good condition with no visible tears or creases. There is an area of minute paint loss along the upper right quadrant. The surface is stable, and the color is bold and bright. When inspected under UV light, there is no sign of restoration. There is some undulation to the canvas and it is slightly loose on the canvas. There is a stretcher bar mark along the top margin.
