Collection of archival photographs depicting the U.S. Legation to China during the Boxer Rebellion from the collection of William Bainbridge. Showing scenes of the cities, iconic monuments, and notable figures from the time. Many annotated along the verso and with labels. Mary Ann Bainbridge kept a day-by-day diary recording what she saw during the Rebellion from 1889 to 1900; copies of hers and William's hand- or type-written recollections of the events they witnessed are included.
