Pair of late 19th century carved and gessoed wooden angels, putti, or cherubs. Each with gilt wings.

Provenance: From the Estate of Horst Rechelbacher, Osceola, Wisconsin.

Horst Rechelbacher, the founder of Aveda and Intelligent Nutrients, was a pioneer in the field of safe and eco-friendly cosmetics. The same curiosity that led him to explore ways to improve the beauty industry led him to travel the world, collecting rare and beautiful objects as he went.

Angel with a broken wing; height: 16 in x width: 9 1/2 in x depth: 4 in. The other angel; height: 16 1/4 in x width: 11 in x depth: 4 in.

Condition

All wings of the angels are loose; one wing has broken off and detached. One of the legs of the angels has also detached. There are scattered losses to the paint and gilt decoration throughout.
