Pair of large Meiji Japanese cloisonne vases with a tapering body, curved foot, and flaring lip. The bodies of the vases depict scenes of blooming flowers surrounded by flitting insects on a blue ground. The necks are decorated with scenes of soaring cranes on a cream ground. The two sections are separated by an elaborate border; similar geometric borders appear along the foot and lip of the vases. Similar to vases by cloisonne artists such as Hayashi Kodenji.Each; Height: 15 in x diameter: 6 in.
