John & Thomas Settle. Pair of Georgian Rococo style Sheffield silver candlesticks, dated 1817. Detachable nozzles, arms, and finial. Impressed silver hallmarks along the base and the finial insert. Marked with the date letter "X," the head of George III duty mark, the Sheffield crown, the lion passant, and the maker's mark "I & T.S." Possibly weighted bases.

In January 1815, John & Thomas Settle registered the mark used on these candlesticks as well as the "T & I.S." mark. These marks continued to be used until November 1825 when J & T Settle, Gunn & Co. registered their own mark "ISTS."

Each; height: 23 in x width: 17 1/4 in x depth: 6 1/2 in. Gross weight: 253.09 Troy oz.
