Pair of Mid-Century Modern ceramic folkware vases or bottles from Mashiko, Japan. These press mold bottles are glazed with an iron saturate (Tenmoku) glaze, with porcelain slip applied under cobalt and iron decoration. One vase depicting flying birds and the other vase depicting flowers. Each stamped and with Otagiri Mercantile Company (OMC) sticker affixed to the underside. These vases were from the late 50's, early 60's and considered hand-made folkware.

Otagiri Mercantile Company INC, “OMC” was a wholesale manufacturing company. Starting in 1948 began importing Japanese artworks as apart of the "Occupied Japan" from the end of WWII to 1952 when Japan regained its sovereignty. After 1955, OMC was headquartered in San Francisco and was an importer and a distributor of porcelain, stoneware, and giftware until 1994.
