Pair of Chinese silk embroidered textile fragments depicting foo dogs or mythical beasts in a lush and verdant landscape.
(Each) Sight; height: 16 3/4 in x width: 13 3/4 in. Framed; height: 18 in x width: 15 in.
One textile has bold and deep colors. This textile has a small, stained tear in the upper right corner. The tear is approximately 3/4 inch wide. There is another small stain in the lower right corner and there is a minute loss in the center of the stain. There are minor areas of loose threads throughout, and a few threads lost throughout the eyes of the center creature. The other textile has slightly muted colors as compared to the other, but they are still quite bright. The silk has shattered in a 1/2 in area in the lower left corner and there are small losses surrounded the shattered area. There is an area of loose threads and minor losses across the center of the black border along the right side. There is are loose threads and minor losses along the lower half of the white border along the left side. The eyes of the creature in the center also have thread loss. General wear consistent with age and use.
