Oil painting on canvas depicting a mother with two children in a landscape with distant mountains along the edge of the sea. The mother holds the younger child in her lap, while the older child stands, leaning against her mother, holding a shell aloft. Similar in style to works by Juan Antonio de Arriaga (Mexican, 17th c.)

There are extensive restorations to the artwork including what appears to be a repaired hole, several large tears, and copious inpainting. Due to the thick, uneven, and heavily discolored varnish it is difficult to ascertain the true extent of these repairs. There is craquelure throughout the work. The painting has been relined.
