American New England oil on canvas folk painting depicting a ship captain's wife. Portrayed seated in front of a sea with storm clouds looming in the distance.
Sight; height: 30 in x width: 24 1/4 in. Framed; height: 38 1/4 in x width: 32 in.
The painting has been relined. The canvas is taut. When inspected under UV light there are areas of inpainting and restoration throughout. The varnish is somewhat discolored or darkened. Some wear to the plaster and wood frame including a few losses, areas of restoration, and cracks.
