Pigment on silk painting depicting a portrait of Mumtaz Mahal, the favorite wife of the fifth emperor of the Mughal Empire, Shah Jahan I. He reigned from 1628 until 1658 and is perhaps most well-known today for building the Taj Mahal for Mumtaz Mahal. A paired portrait of Shah Jahan I is offered in this auction.
