Megan Rye (American, b. 1975). Gouache on Arches paper painting titled "Pig 16" depicting an abstracted pig in pink and blue, 2009. Pencil signed, titled, and dated along the lower right corner. From a series of 100 pig paintings completed at the PVArt Studio Residency in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.
Rye is a Minneapolis-based artist. Her first significant body of work was "I Will Follow You Into the Dark," based on photographs that the artist's brother took while serving in Iraq. The project debuted at the Minneapolis Institute of Art in 2007. She has also exhibited at the Weisman Art Museum, the Spencer Museum of Art, Forum Gallery in New York City, and many more.
Sight; height: 22 in x width: 30 in. Framed; height: 27 1/4 in x width: 35 in x depth: 1 1/4 in.
The colors are bold and bright. There are no visible tears, losses, or restorations. Light wear to the deckled edges. There is a slight undulation to the sheet. The sheet is floated in frame. Framed under glass; light wear to the frame. Not inspected out of frame.
