Terracotta bust depicting Marie Antoinette. Inscribed in French along one side of the plinth. She is dressed as a common citizen. Likely a study for a marble bust.
Height: 12 1/2 in x width: 8 in x depth: 6 1/4 in. The sculpture is in good condition overall with no major chips or losses, or visible cracks. As shown in the lot listing, the sculpture shows uneven color throughout. Dust collected to the surface. Wear throughout. There is an accretion to below the neck; there is another accretion to the left of the ribbon. There is a minute chip above the accretion. There is a minute crack by the column. Wear to the underside, consistent with age and use. Along the underside, there is an adhesive residue. When inspected under UV light, there is no visible sign of restoration.
