Hardbound first edition. Maria Howard Weeden (American, 1846-1905), "Old Voices," New York: Doubleday, Page & Company, 1904. With decorations by Cora Parker. Maria Howard Weeden was an artist and poet based in Huntsville, Alabama. After the Civil War, she did portraits of African American freed men and women. She published four poetry books from 1898-1904 illustrated with her own art.
