Jon Schueler (American, 1916-1992). Large oil on canvas painting titled "Skye" depicting an abstract landscape in purple, gray, blue, and light brown tones, 1977. A dark line extending from the lower right suggests a horizon, crowned by layers and layers of billowing clouds. A darker cloud extends from the upper right edge, sending wisps across the canvas. Signed, titled, and dated along the verso.

The colors are bold and bright. The surface is stable. There are no tears, losses, or restorations when viewed under UV light. There is a "t" shaped stretcher bar mark running horizontally and vertically through the center of the painting. There are a few areas of craquelure, there is a spiral crack in the lower left quadrant of the work. There are some accretions along the lower half of the painting; only visible under UV light. Wear along the edges. The work is not framed.
