Joseph Hoffmann (Austrian, 1870-1956) for Jacob and Josef Kohn, Austria. Bentwood "Sitzmaschine" model 670 chair with adjustable back. Partial label to the underside reading "Teschen, Austria." This chair was designed for Hoffmann's Purkersdorf Sanatorium in Vienna which was one of the first important contributions to the Wiener Werkstatte movement. Inspired by the Morris chair, this work was in production from ca. 1905-1916.

Provenance: From the Estate of Horst Rechelbacher, Osceola, Wisconsin.
