Jan Matulka (Czech/American, 1890-1972). Watercolor on paper depicting several houses and trees in a neighborhood. Signed in pencil along the lower left. Dated "May 78" in pencil, marked "42," and "707" in pencil, and stamped with "Estate of Jan Matulka" in black ink along the verso. Jan Matulka is known for his abstract expressionist artworks and book illustrations in "Czechoslovak Fairy Tales" and "The Shoemaker's Apron."
