Italian Urbino majolica platter after Orazio Fontana, ca. late 19th c. The platter is profusely decorated in polychrome tin glaze with scenes from Classical mythology. The central court scene surrounded by reserves depicting the four elements and four human and animal heads, surrounded by a border of putti and fantastical creatures interspersed with scrolling foliate designs. The border with two medallions reading "Urbini." With a metal mount.
