First edition of Newton's first scientific publication, which describes the analysis of white light by dispersion into colors and the invention of the reflecting telescope. This work directly led to his 1704 publication, "Opticks," one of his greatest works.
Quarto. Contained within a modern cloth case. With a receipt and description from Jeremy Norman & Co., Inc.
