Gelatin silver print photograph mounted to board depicting a crew member of James J. Hill's steam ship "Wacouta." Printed by Carriere & Compagnie, Montreal. The steamship was originally named "Eleanor" and was purchased by Hill in 1900. He renamed it "Wacouta" after the St. Paul, Minnesota street. The street was important to Hill as it was the street where the Merchant's Hotel originally stood, where he met his first wife Mary, and was also the location for the Great Northern Railroad depot and offices.

Condition

There are no creases, tears, or losses. There is discoloration throughout the print, it is unknown if this has occured as a result of aging or processing. There are no signs of restoration under UV light. The photograph is mounted to an original board; verso unable to be inspected. The photo is not framed.
