Group of 29 1893 Columbian half dollar coins featuring a bust of Christopher Columbus surrounded by "UNITED STATES OF AMERICAN * COLUMBIAN HALF DOLLAR" one one side with the reverse featuring a port view of the Santa Maria above two hemispheres flanked by the date 1492 and surrounded by "WORLD'S COLUMBIAN EXPOSITION CHICAGO * 1893." These coins were issued to raise funds from the Chicago 1893 World's Columbian Exposition and to commemorate the quadricentennial of Christopher Columbus' voyage to America.
