Group of three silver niello cases.
One sterling case with niello pin striped exterior and push tab closure. The interior with a light silt wash and engraved with initials EL in script. Marked faintly with crescent, indistinct mark, 925 and WTB (for Wilhelm Binder - Schwabisch Gmund - founded in 1869) along an interior edge.
One case with niello scene on the front depicting a rocket launch in the night sky over a sky scape. With push tab closure and other tab. The interior gilt wash with two elastic straps. Marked C45 and X along the interior.
One niello box with foliate details throughout exterior, the box of rounded rectangular form. Marked along the top lid. Marks faded, potentially indicate St. Petersberg, 1882-1899.

Provenance: Property from the distinguished collection of Mr. James Lee Soffer, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Height ranges from 1/2 in in to 1 in; width ranges from 2 1/4 in to 3 1/4 in; depth ranges from 3 1/4 to 3 1/2 in. Gross weight: 10.13 Troy oz.

Condition

Two cases open and close smoothly, the niello box does not close tightly. Some losses to niello of pin stripe case. Significant losses of niello to foliate case. All with some tarnishing and wear throughout. Foliate case with polish accretions and oxidization.
