Gary Rice (Canadian (Coast Salish), b. 1939). Pacific Northwest Coast Native American hand carved and painted wooden sculpture titled "Jonah and the Whale," depicting the biblical story of the prophet Jonah being swallowed by a whale, shown in this sculpture deep in the whale's mouth behind rows of teeth. Incised signature along the underside.
